In P1 this week the boys and girls have been exploring how polar bears keep warm as part of their cross-curricular and STEM learning. They took part in an experiment putting both hands into a sandwich bag, one was empty and the other was filled with coconut oil. They then put both hands into ice water. The children observed and concluded that the hand in the coconut oil was more insulated as the coconut oil acted as an insulator, just like the polar bear’s blubber keeping him warm. What a lovely experiment! 🐻❄️
